As the entire country braces for what weather forecasters are predicting to be one of the worst downfalls of snow since 1982, the Department of Education is said to be on red alert as to whether schools will remain open as the week goes on.
It’s understood that at present the Department of Education has declared to its staff and delegates that all schools will be open today and they’re monitoring weather reports with an emphasis being put on schools along the east coast from Co. Louth down to Co. Kildare.
A member of the department told The Liberal that schools “probably” will open tomorrow as normal but if forecasters are correct with their predictions many schools will “likely” be closed on both Wednesday and Thursday of this week with Friday still being monitored.
A number of Irish forecasters have now claimed that up to 15 inches of snow will fall on Ireland this week with major disruption expected to hit schools, public transport, businesses and motorways.
