Irish missionary priest Fr Shay Cullen is being honoured this evening for his work protecting woman and children from sex slavery and promoting human rights in the Philippines.

Fr Cullen has also accused the President Rodrigo Duterte of killing, without trial, thousands of people suspected of being drug dealers.

He has spent the last 40 years working tirelessly under dangerous conditions to help get as many children and women off the streets as possible. The sex slave trade is rife on the streets of the Philippines and this heroic missionary priest has done all he can to help literally thousands of women and children throughout his tenure.

The true gentleman is being rightly honoured this evening in Killarney for his humanitarian work.

The award is that in honour of Fr Hugh O’Flaherty, who managed to rescue 6,000 Jews from the gestapo.
