In a highly anticipated development, Irish retail chain Penneys will open its first store Stateside on September 10.
The store will be located in Boston’s historic Burnham Building, formerly home to the iconic Filene’s store.
Taking up a gigantic 77,000sq.ft over five storeys, the first American Penneys will become one of the anchor tenants at the Millennium Tower project, a $630m (€570m) multi-use skyscraper at Downtown Crossing.
Penneys, which opened its first store in Ireland on Dublin’s Mary Street in 1969, now has a presence in 10 countries across the world.
