Holding on for dear life: Enda Kenny says ‘I’ll be talking to my party soon,’ when asked about quitting the top job

Enda Kenny steadfastly refuses to let go of the throne, saying instead that he will be talking to his party on the matter soon.

Kenny has found a new lease of life for his governance on the back of Brexit, which requires an ‘orderly transition,’ according to him. In other words, he is the only man for the job and he ain’t goin’ nowhere.

There has been growing disquiet among Fine Gael party members about Enda Kenny’s hold on power.

Backbenchers and front runners for the top spot had hoped that Enda would be gone before the Dáil breaks for its long summer break, but that does not look likely.
