Homeless advocacy groups call for more to be done as latest figures show a slight fall in the number of people homeless across the country

There was a slight decrease in the number of people reporting as homeless in the month of March.

According to latest figures published by the Department of Housing there are currently 9,681 people homeless across the country.

Although the figures mark as an improvement, homeless advocacy groups say more work needs to be done in order to significantly reduce the overall figures.

It is thought the slight fall in numbers is attributed to the Dublin Regional Executive availing of more beds to the city’s homeless during the past month.
