Homeless charities call for more help after a number of homeless people were forced to sleep rough overnight

Homeless charity groups in Dublin have once again called for much needed support after a number of people were forced to sleep rough on Wednesday night.

The fresh call comes after figures uncovered that a large number of homeless were left stranded in search of shelter as temperatures dropped to as low as – 5c.

In what has been described as appalling circumstances a leading Dublin homeless shelter confirmed vulnerable people were left without shelter as all extra beds were taken within a matter of hours.

Although the shelter say they are doing everything they can to help ease the crisis, they did reiterate the call for help and urged the government to step up their efforts and issue the appropriate resources.

The latest plea comes as the country is set to experience its worst night yet with strong winds and heavy snowfall excepted overnight.
