Gardaí in Dublin have confirmed that a 24-yr-old man has appeared in court after being charge with the rape of an 18-yr-old Spanish student near Sandymount Beach.
The man, who has not been named for legal reasons, was charged with three offences which include rape, false imprisonment and threats to kill at the Glass Bottle site.
The man’s arrest comes after he allegedly lured an 18-year-old from the city centre to the Pigeon House road before she was repeatedly raped and held against her will.
Gardaí say the man was remanded in custody for a week. It’s understood that the man, who was freely walking the streets, has previous serious violent convictions.
