In what can only be described as a horrific incident on day 1 of the Rio Olympics, French athlete Samir Ait Said’s leg snapped on live television watched by millions round the world as he attempted to complete his vault during team preliminaries.
The sound of the injury is said to have echoed around arena as a shocked crowed watched on at the Rio Olympics as the Frenchman crashed to the ground.
Several viewers watching on television took to social media to express their shock after incident was broadcast live.
He was eventually wheeled out and raised one arm to acknowledge the loud ovation he received from the crowd.
One onlooker said:
“He was in pure agony, the poor bloke jumped, fell and that was it. Olympics over and a horrible injury”.
Samir has already vowed to be back for 2020.
