Horrifying: Five month old baby boy left fighting for his life after his father allegedly stuffed baby wipes down his throat

A five month baby boy is currently fighting for his life after his father allegedly stuffed a number of baby wipes down his throat it has been revealed.

According to FOX 13 news, the horrifying incident which occurred in Tarpon Springs in Florida, has left the young infant on a ventilator and in critical condition.

It is alleged the child’s father Michael Hurley aged 32, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder. Although the boy’s father has maintained his innocence it is alleged that Mr Hurley tried to kill his son after a blood soaked wipe was retrieved from his throat.

FOX 13 say the terrifying incident was uncovered when the boy’s mother returned to find her husband with his two fingers in the infants mouth.

Despite there being no evidence of blood inside the actual wipe, the boy’s father claims that he was trying to retrieve the wipe from his son’s throat, but he couldn’t because he claimed his fingers were too big.

The infant who was just seconds from death was saved by a concerned neighbour who followed the boy’s mother inside after hearing her screams for help whilst they were standing on the street.

Following his arrest the boy’s father said that he knows the incident ‘looked bad’, but he maintained his innocence by stating it was a ‘freak accident.’

Police investigating the case say they believe that Mr Hurley attempted to kill his son, given that there was no blood inside the wipe and therefore the evidence suggests that it was balled up before being rammed down his throat.

Mr Hurley is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
