A man who sickeningly subjected his two month old daughter to relentless physical abuse has been given a 30 month sentence after he was found guilty of assault on a minor under the age of four.
The Minnesota man Shawn Michale Fotlz, aged 32 was found guilty after a court heard testimony that revealed that the father repeatedly subjected his daughter to physical abuse.
Amongst his disgraceful actions the convicted fathe from Moorhead, deliberately rubbed hot sauce and cayenne pepper in his daughter’s eyes, nose and mouth.
Fotlz was found to have held the infants windpipe so tightly that she turned blue and that he regularly threw fireworks at her face.
According to The Daily Mail newspaper, Fotlz carried out the sickening abuse between April and May 2017 and he was only found out when the girl’s mother brought her to an emergency room for treatment.
It is understood that medical staff found a number of bruises on the infant’s face, shoulder and buttocks which then prompted a police investigation.
Foltz who will serve at least 20 months behind bars, repeatedly denied any wrong doing and claimed the infant sustained her injuries after her elder brother threw a toy gun at her.
However following extensive police questioning Foltz admitted to carrying out the abuse and told investigating officers that he slapped the girl in the face with a wet towel and used a wooden spoon and piece of vinyl flooring to hit her on her bottom.
Following his arrest Foltz was remanded in custody and pleaded guilty to third degree assault on a minor under the age of four.
The convicted father who already served 429 days behind bars also reportedly told prosecutors that he deliberately carried out the abuse as his victim would be unable to tell anyone.
It is expected that Fotlz will spend at least 20 months behind bars and his overall sentence was reduced given the time he had already served whilst awaiting trial.
