A new mum has been tragically killed in the most gruesome possible way just minutes after giving birth.
The woman who was apparently ‘cut in half’, was killed after mechanical fault occurred on a lift in Valme Hospital in Seville, southern Spain.
According to local media reports the new mother got her head trapped between the lift frame and the roof after it started going up unexpectedly.
It is thought the woman who was lying on a stretcher with her newborn was being transported by staff to a maternity unit on the third floor when the horrifying incident occurred.
The woman was then left dangling in the lift shaft when the lift started moving up. It is understood it took firefighters over two hours to reach her remains.
Police investigating the incident say a number of medical staff along with emergency services tried frantically to save the woman’s life but sadly they were unable to do so.
They also say the woman’s baby was left unharmed in the tragic incident.
