The head of the HSE Tony O’Brien has spoken out about the current Irish hospital crisis. Hundreds of patients around the country are lying on trolleys and nurses are at breaking point due to overcrowding.
Speaking to today’s Sunday Business Post, Mr O’Brien stated that hospital facilities and equipment around the country need major upgrades. He said €9 billion is needed to do this efficiently.
The figure is double the current level of investment in hospitals, with the majority of capital being spent on delivering the new children’s hospital.
