The HSE have confirmed that the number of influenza cases has risen in the past few weeks.
In an announcement made today, the Health Authority confirmed that 254 people were admitted to hospitals across the country with the influenza A strain.
They also say the number of deaths has risen to nine since the beginning of the year, whilst the total number of cases has risen to over 540 this winter.
The HSE are urging people to get vaccinated saying it is not too late, and those who are considered to be part of at risk groups should get vaccinated immediately.
