According to reports it is understood that a brand new facility will be built to replace the Central Mental Hospital in north county Dublin.
The new facility will be built near St. Ita’s in Portrane, and is expected to start taking patients in 2018. The new multi-million euro hospital will have room for 120 adult patients. The new hospital will also have a 10-bed child and adolescent facility on site in Portrane.
The HSE also say that new intensive care rehab units are also currently being designed for Cork, Galway and Mullingar Hospitals. A spokesperson has said they hope to that announcements regarding the new units in Cork, Galway and Mullingar will be made soon.
