There was good news for heart patients in the South East as the HSE has confirmed that a second Cath lab will be built at University Hospital Waterford.
In an announcement made on Thursday, the HSE confirmed that €4.75m in funding has been granted to build the second lab at the hospital.
The announcement which has been welcomed by local TD’s and councillors comes as the hospital was forced to a mobile lab along with its current Cath lab.
It is expected that the new project will take between 12-18 months to design and construct.
