HSE denies claims that they have spent over €6m refurbishing a hospital in Co Tipperary – saying the renovations have come in well under budget

The HSE have strongly denied recent claims that they have spent over €6m refurbishing a hospital in Co Tipperary.

The response comes after recent reports suggested that the hospital in question currently died not take in any further patients.

However the HSE say although the renovation work at Our Lady’s Hospital in Cashal has long since been completed, the costs have come nowhere near the current estimates.

A HSE spokesman has since said the works finished within budget, and were completed six weeks ago. They also say that the hospital now only takes day cases, after major cases were transferred to Clonmel ten years ago
