The HSE has confirmed that they are currently investigating the death of a baby in the Midland Regional Hospital.
The unnamed baby was born on the 16th August at the Hospital in Mullingar and subsequently died at the National Maternity Hospital Neo Natal Unit on August 22.
The HSE released a statement in which they said: “An incident management policy is being followed and a full and thorough investigation has commenced.”
They have also confirmed that the family is involved in the process.
The hospital has extended its deepest sympathies to the family.
