Hundreds take to the streets of Dublin in protest against homelessness

Hundreds of people descended on the streets of Dublin this afternoon to hold an organised protest in support of homeless people sleeping across Ireland.

The protest which was organised by Councillor Christy Burke seen over 200 people come out in support and call on the Government to address the issue.

Under the peaceful protest Mr Burke and his campaigners called for the immediate dismissal of eviction courts an urged the government to give vacant homes across the country to those sleeping in emergency hostels and those sleeping rough on the streets.

It is believed the event was organised after latest figures showed there were currently over 8,300 people without a home across the country.
