Hundreds turn out to pay their respects to Jastine Valdez at candlelight vigil in Enniskerry

Hundreds of people in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow came out in support and united together to pay their respects to Jastine Valdez.

In a candle light vigil held in Ms Valdez’s local community, dozens of people paid their respects to the 24 year old Filipino woman who was sadly killed on Saturday evening.

The community who have been left shocked and in grief following recent events, heard statements and from priests and local councillors.

In a mark of respect and to honour her memory a number of candles along with floral tributes were placed in the village.

The heartbreaking scenes came just over 24 hours after the accounting student’s body was found in gorse land near Puck’s Castle in South Dublin.

Gardaí investigating Ms Valdez’s death say post-mortem examination results have confirmed that the young woman died as a result of strangulation.
