Hungarian swimmer recovering in hospital after trying to swim the Irish Sea

An experienced Hungarian swimmer is recovering in hospital after he was rescued from the Irish Sea last weekend.

It is understood the man Attila Manyoki, was rescued by the Coast Guard after he got into difficulties whilst trying to swim from Co Down to Scotland.

Although the swimmer was close to reaching his target was rescued when got into difficulties in the strong waters.

It is understood Mr Manyoki was suffering from hypothermia and breathing difficulties when he was rescued from the water.

He also had a number of jellyfish stings. The swimmer from Budapest was quickly rushed to Ulster Hospital.

Although he said to be making a good recovery since the incident.
