Hurricane Irma continues moving north, where it’s expected to hit southern Georgia in the next few hours.
The weather system, now downgraded to tropical storm, has left vast areas of the Caribbean in a state of devastation, and has also exacted a heavy toll around Florida. Millions are without power, and it could be weeks before it’s restored, authorities have warned.
The storm is set to weaken as it moves further inland until it eventually dissipates.
The southern US states face a repair bill in the tens of millions, with a long road ahead before life returns to normality for many.
