Hurricane Ophelia: Schools, colleges and creches are closed due to impending hurricane

Met Eireann’s predictions of the devastation Hurricane Ophelia could cause has made the department of education tell all schools, colleges and creches to close their doors tomorrow.

The hurricane has now warranted a status RED ALERT right across the entire country. People are advised to stay indoors until the storm passes north of Co. Antrim.

The HSE have also announced that all outpatient appointments have been cancelled for tomorrow. All driving tests are now cancelled too and social welfare appointments have also been cancelled today.

All counties have now been warned to brace themselves for hurricane winds of 130+ klm.

Initially the west of Ireland was in for the worst but then later today, southwestern counties were added. Last night, a national emergency has been warned by Met Eireann.
