Warnings have been issued for the possible devastation that Hurricane Ophelia may cause. Winds of 130klm are expected to strike the country right throughout the day.
The hurricane has already made landfall in the Southwest and is moving towards the West.
The national response services have warned people to stay away from coastal areas, harbours, cliffs, and promenades. A status RED ALERT was issued by Met Eireann last night for the entire country with predictions getting worse throughout the day.
The message is simple: “Stay dry, stay high and stay away from coasts”.
