Ibrahim Halawa’s trial on his involvement in the Muslim brotherhood protests is set for later this month

The prosecution case in the trial of Ibrahim Halawa in Egypt is set to end later this month.

In April, Halawa asked the then Taoiseach Enda Kenny to help free him from his prison in Cairo after his trial was postponed.

21-yr-old Halawa was detained during Muslim Brotherhood protests in Cairo in 2013.

He was one of 400 people who were accused of conspiracy for murder.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney said he welcomes the indications that the trial is now coming to an end.
