In the region of 100 people attended an anti-racism rally at Shannon Key West Hotel in Rooskey, Co Leitrim, on Sunday.
The protest rally came after a fire broke out at the hotel which was earmarked to house asylum seekers last week.
During the rally organisers from counties Leitrim and Roscommon called for an end to the Direct Provision system as local communities are not consulted on proposed centres.
Although a number organisers and locals in the village said they would welcome refugees, they did say there isn’t enough facilities to accommodate them.
The rally which lasted a number of hours was held after the hotel set on fire in what is believed to be a suspected arson attack.
