A 19 year old Indian man has been sentenced to death after he was found guilty of raping a seven month old baby girl last May.

The man who has been identified as Pintu in the Indian press, was given the sentence after a jury of his peers found him guilty of the sickening act which occurred whilst the baby girl was being cared for by her partially blind grandmother.

According to The Hindustan Times, the teenager was found guilty after a court heard compelling evidence of how the paedophile carried out the horrifying attack.

It is believed the teenager who was arrested by police shortly after the incident which occurred in Laxmangarh, in the Alwar District, kidnapped the baby and took her to a nearby school before raping her.

Pintu who was then apprehended by a group of people before being arrested by police officers, then apparently dumped the baby in a nearby field before she was later found crying by a passer-by.

The conviction which has received approval by women’s advocacy groups in India is one of the first to be handed down since India passed new laws last March that will sex harsher sentences being handed down to see offenders.
