INMO calls on HSE to introduce emergency nursing staff

The INMO has called on the HSE to introduce emergency nursing staff at a number of hospitals nationwide in order to help deal with the current overcrowding crisis.

The call comes after figures published today found that there were over 540 people waiting on trolleys at emergency departments across the country.

Speaking about the issue INMO General Secretary Liam Doran said: “At the moment the health service is under excessive demand and has inadequate bed capacity anyway.”

“That’s been compounded now by and inability to recruit and retain the necessary numbers of nurses.”
