The new ‘broadcast charge’ was due to be introduced as a blanket levy on all households, replacing the current TV licence.
However, earlier this year the Government conceded that the charge could not be introduced on top of the Local Property Charge and the much hated water charges.
The new charge is now likely to be brought in at some point after the election, while the TV licence remains in place.
