An investigation is under way after the body of a woman was discovered in a house near Hackballscross in County Louth.
The woman was found by a family member this afternoon at around 3:45 pm. She is believed to have died after sustaining serious head injuries.
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death and whether it is connected to the fatal crash that happened on the M1 near Ardee, Co. Louth this afternoon.
A man who is believed to have been driving up the northbound lane of the motorway collided with a car and a truck.
The deceased man’s car registration is said to be linked with the address of the body of the woman.
Three people who were in the other car were brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
Their injuries are described as non life threatening.
The road is expected to be closed for the time being.
