Investigation underway after a ferry is involved in a near miss incident with a submarine in the Irish Sea

An investigation is underway after a ferry was involved in a near miss with a submarine in the Irish Sea on November 6th, 2018.

It is understood the Royal Navy was submerged at a depth required to raise its periscope above water.

Although the Royal Navy has yet to confirm which submarine vessel was involved, it is believed that a Stena Superfast VII was in the area at the time of the incident.

The investigation is apparently being led by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), and the Royal Navy is said to be co-operating in their investigation.
