Investigation underway as 80 Leaving Cert students have their results withheld on suspicion of cheating




This possibly goes a little further than the old tale of “the dog ate my homework”, but nevertheless some 80 Leaving Cert students have had their results withheld on suspicion they may cheated on their exams.

43 students are having their results operantly withheld while 37 are other students’ results are still under investigation and are not yet being given out the State Examinations Commission has announced.

While still a miniscule fraction of the of the 57,000 students who sat their Leaving Cert exams this year the number of students having their results withheld has risen from 2017 when 72 students found their results being withheld under suspicion of cheating, the Irish Times reported.

The SEC will state as which kind of cheating is suspected in any of the 80 cases.
