The Republic of Ireland have kept their World Cup qualification hopes alive this evening with a 2-0 victory over Moldova at the Aviva Stadium.
In a must win game the boys green kept their chances alive by sweeping aside the group minnows in Dublin.
The win came courtesy of Daryl Murphy who headed two first half goals to setup a showdown against Wales in Cardiff on Monday for a potential play off spot.
However Martin O’Neill’s men could yet still top group after Serbia suffered a 3-2 defeat against Austria in Vienna tonight.
Although for Ireland to top the group they must beat Wales on Monday and hope Georgia do them a favour and beat Serbia in Belgrade on the same night.
