We’ll all get old one day, that’s an inescapable fact of life, and will get to retire. However, those who can afford it may want to retire elsewhere, as according to recently released data, Ireland ranks as one the worst countries in western Europe for retirement.

The annual Natixis Global Asset Management CoreData Global Retirement Index, the Emerald Isle has nosedived eight spots down the list, and now ranks in the 32nd position for retirees welfare.

After such slip down the comfort pit for old timers, Ireland now stands beside Uruguay and Poland, though Ireland’s relative position when compared to last year’s is somewhat improved. The country stood 48th in 2014.

The list ranks countries according to four key standards of retirement wellbeing: health and access to good health services, having material means to “live a comfortable life”, access to good financial services and living in a clean and safe environment.
