Irish Navy say they rescued more than 8,500 migrants in the Mediterranean during 2015




According to a recent report otbis believed that the Irish Navy rescued more than 8,500 from the Mediterranean Sea in the year 2015.

The Irish Naval Service has released new data that says the three ships, the LÉ Eithne, the LÉ Niamh, and the LÉ Samuel Beckett which were deployed to the Mediterranean to deal with the current humanitarian crisis, rescued a total of 8,631 people during the course of 2015.

Meanwhile the Irish Navy has received great praise from the UN for their efforts in rescuing stranded emigrants during the current crisis.
