Irish Navy Vessel Le Niamh rescues a further 125 people from the Mediterranean Sea over the weekend

Irish navy vessel LE Niamh has reportedly rescued another 125 people from a rubber boat in the Mediterranean over the weekend.

It is understood the vessel braved tough weather conditions to rescue the migrants stranded in the Mediterranean Sea. It is also understood the vessel picked up another 140 people on Sunday evening after they were rescued by an Italian naval vessel.

The latest rescue mission brings the total number of people to 4,000 rescued by the Le Niamh since it was deployed in the region last July.
