Galwegians, and the Irish at large, have good reason to be proud tonight, as the city of Galway has received top marks in a review published by the prestigious New York Times newspaper.
Galway was this week’s subject in the Times’ regular ’36 Hours in’ feature, written by author Nell McShane Wulfhart.
Wulfhart described the city as “compact, walkable and filled to the brim with independent shops and restaurants that walk the fine line between cool and kitsch.”
Some local eateries and entertainment venues received specific mention; McDonagh’s fish and chips, pints in Tigh Neachtain, and music in the Róisín Dubh.
The piece is sure to boost US tourism into Ireland, particularly Galway, this coming summer!
