The Irish Prison Service has confirmed that almost 300 new positions will be made available at the prisons across the country.
According to RTE News the 288 pensionable public service jobs will be made available throughout the year with the application process to remain open until the end of this month.
RTE say the new positions are being created due the high number of retirements amongst prison service employees, the national broadcaster also say the Prison Service are actively seeking new recruits for the first time in over a decade.
It is expected the vast number of positions will be filled throughout the year, with 50 new recruits expected to start training this coming autumn.
