Irish Rail suspend services after truck carrying dangerous chemicals gets trapped under bridge




A number of train services were suspended between Limerick and Limerick junction were suspended today, after a truck carrying a number of chemicals got stuck underneath a 4.4m high bridge on the Killmallock road.

The incident which occurred at approximately 2pm this afternoon seen a number of emergency services arrive at the scene as the truck was left in a dangerous position.

It is understood Gardaí arrived at the scene to close off the road until the truck was freed.

Reports say the road and rail line was closed for over an hour as four units of Limerick City and County Fire Service, along with a recovery truck managed to free the truck.

Irish Rail have said the line has now reopened and normal services have resumed.
