IS leader in Afghanistan reportedly killed by special forces operatives

Military sources in Afghanistan have confirmed that a tier one individual in the IS organization was killed today.

Abdul Hasib, the leader of IS militia in Afghanistan, had taken over in 2016 after his predecessor, Hafiz Saeed Khan, was killed in a drone strike.

Hasib had ordered some high-profile attacks, such as the massacre at Kabul’s main military hospital last March, which left at least 30 dead.

Afghan forces, supported by US assets, have staged a number of operations against IS in Afghanistan in recent times.

Last month, US air force units dropped the largest non-nuclear bomb on a cave system suspected to be used by insurgents, killing at least 94 fighters.
