Italian football club AS Roma have donated a total of €150,000 to the Sean Cox fund.
The donation which will go towards the costs of Mr Cox’s rehabilitation and medical costs was made with €100,000 being donated via Roma Cares foundation, whilst AS Roma president Jim Pallotta will make a personal donation of €50,000.
Both donations come after GoFundMe page was recently set up for Mr Cox 53, was seriously injured whilst attending a soccer match at Anfield Stadium last April.
Meanwhile the club have also agreed to work on further fund raising initiatives with the Cox family.
In a statement explaining the donation Roma President Pallotta said the following: “What happened to Sean Cox should never happen to anyone attending a football match.”
“Our thoughts today, as they have been from day one, are with Sean, Martina and their whole family. We all hope Sean makes as full a recovery as possible.”
