The recently released prisoner Ibrahim Halawa has once again denied claims that he ripped up his Irish passport during a Muslim Brotherhood protest in Egypt back in 2013.

Halawa who was exonerated of all crimes last month also said he has no idea where that particular rumour emanated from.

Speaking during a recent interview on Today FM’s The Last Word programme Halawa said that the accusation was completely false and that he is completely baffled as to how the rumour began in the first place.

Mr Halawa who returned home to Firhouse Dublin, last month told the programme’s host Matt Cooper that he is determined to get his passport back from the Egyptian authorities who took it off him when they arrested him back in 2013.

The former prisoner who also revealed that he is still adjusting to life back home said that he hopes to get his original passport back soon in order to put the ugly rumour to bed once and for all.
