The writing seems to be firmly etched on the wall for Tanaiste and Labour leader Joan Burton. After years of much un-Labour like policies that go against the party’s core ideology, people have had enough.

A new poll has this morning revealed that Ms. Burton is trailing way behind her foes in the political battlefield.

Leo Varadkar and Paul Donnelly lead the way in her constituency, with 20% support each. Jack Chambers and Ruth Coppinger are placed at 17% and 15% for Fianna Fáil and AAA-PBP. And picking up the crumbs at the rear and eating political oblivion dust, Ms. Burton exerts a large amount of delusion in an effort to catch up.

The Labour party as a whole is likely to enter the underside of Irish politics on election day, following the Greens’ last exit left to the political junkyard.
