Job done, Ireland beat France in Cardiff to setup quarter final fixture against Argentina at the Rugby World Cup

Ireland have booked a quarter final meeting with Argentina next Sunday at the Rugby World Cup this afternoon after beating France 24-9 at the Millennium Stadium.

The boys in green triumphed over the French with two tries from Rob Kearney and Connor Murray respectively whilst Paddy Madigan was reliant from the boot after coming on for an injured Johnny Sexton. Ireland dominated the game from start to finish although the win comes at a cost as leading players Johnny Sexton and Paul O’Connell picked up major injuries during the game. Early reports suggest that captain O’Connell has torn his hamstring which will rule him out of the rest of the tournament, whilst Sexton is reportedly suffering from a groin strain after receiving a heavy tackle from Louis Picamoles.

The result now means Ireland go onto face Argentina in the quarter finals next Sunday whilst France now face a daunting fixture against New Zealand next Saturday.
