Karen Buckley’s family are still awaiting confirmation that they may travel to Glasgow to collect her body and return it to Ireland for burial.
The family went back to Cork last Saturday, after being informed that it may be a few days before the body is released.
There were plans to have Karen’s body flown back to Cork, but the man accused of her murder did exercise his right to have a second post-mortem done.
Lawyers representing Alexander Pacteau indicated that their client wished to have an independent post-mortem carried out on the body.
Under both Scottish and Irish law, an individual accused of murder has the right to request a second post-mortem examination done by an independent pathologist of their choice.
It is hoped the pathologist will be able to perform the examination tomorrow, so the body of the tragic student can be brought back home soon.
