The Children’s Minister Katherine Zappone has today that every family across the country will eventually benefit from new plans to lower the cost of childcare.
Minister Zappone made her comments after the Government recently revealed plans to introduce an allowance for struggling families to partially cover child care costs.
However the plans have caused an inner party dispute amongst Fine Gael TDs as many feel that middle-income households could be unfairly left out of the scheme.
Although when pressed on the issue earlier today Ms Zappone said all families would benefit eventually. Dr Zappone said: “We’d be very clear, and I do think the Taoiseach understands this, that ultimately what we are putting in place in terms of a new system, a new programme, a new infrastructure that approach and ambition in every child in the context of every family will benefit to some degree.”
