Kenny: “All Government ministers must set a good example and pay their water charges”

The Taoiseach and Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has said that all TDs, and Cabinet ministers, should pay their water charges and uphold the law of the land.

Mr Kenny’s comments come after the new junior minister for disabilities, Finian McGrath and Independent Alliance TD John Halligan scandalously revealed that they have not paid their water charges and have no intention in doing so.

According to sources within the Dail Mr Kenny is appalled by Mr McGrath’s and his fellow ministers actions, and fully believes they should pay their outstanding charges in order to set a good example.

Meanwhile the new Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Simon Coveney, echoed the Taoiseach’s comments saying: “Government ministers should lead by example, it is the law to pay your taxes … including water charges.”
