The parliamentary party leaders will get down and dirty if things get dicey between their respective cohorts, it has emerged today.
The bosses will step in and sort out any differences that may arise between their camps, as part of the historic agreement that will see Fianna Fail back a Fine Gael-led minority government, with rejected Taoiseach Enda Kenny being put back into the driver’s seat.
TDs will be back inside the Dáil chamber tomorrow, though an actual functioning government is not expected to be in place for another few days yet.
Water charges, the issue which brought down the previous Cabinet, will be suspended for nine months as part of the deal. However, some wording has been introduced that suggests a brand new quango to support Irish Water will be established soon. The document refers to the quango as “external advisory body on a statutory basis to build public confidence in Irish Water.”
