The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has once again stated that Britain’s upcoming exit from the EU, could lead to an united Ireland.
Mr Kenny who was speaking at a Fine Gael fundraiser last night said given that Britain are leaving the EU even though citizens north of the border were not in favour of it, it could potentially lead to an “uncomplicated route” to a united Ireland which would be beneficial for all.
Mr Kenny raised the prospect of such a scenario after it was recently revealed that Northern Ireland along with Scotland would have to wait 20 years to re-enter the EU.
Although Mr Kenny said any change in position would ultimately come down to a referendum, but claimed the idea should not be immediately dismissed off hand.
