Large crowds are ex to descend on the streets of Drogheda over the weekend as a protest march will take place on Sunday.

The march which will be led by the town’s Mayor Cllr Frank Godfrey, comes after a number of people living in the area have voiced their disapproval at a proposed name change to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

It is believed that a petition objecting to the proposed name change will be handed in at the hospital after a number of local residents voiced their concerns due to lack of consultation over the proposed idea.

The protest march which will get underway on Sunday afternoon at 3pm, is being held after the HSE recently announced plans for a name change at the hospital.
