Latest figures show the state claimed €1.2bn more in taxes to the end of July than this time last year

The state’s economy is looking more promising this morning after the latest exchequer figures showed that tax revenues are higher than this time last year.

However the stability of the economy is still up for debate as figures have shown that Tax revenues for the month of July are below what were expected.

According to the latest report the inland revenue recorded an income of €4.4bn in the moth of July a figure that was €119m below its projected target.

Although on the grand scale of things revenue officials say the annual intake is up by €1.2bn, totalling €28bn from July 2016 to July 2017.

The exchequer also revealed that the sale of Government shares in AIB resulted in an extra surplus of €3.4bn. However excluding the sale of shares the state say it is still above projected targets recording €671m more this July than in July 2016.
